Once I Fell In Love

Once I fell in love with a drink so yellow
It’s lethargic fragrance begging praise
It’s contents a mystery, yet it’s taste so mellow
It drowned me in sickening craze

Once I fell in love with a girl so dark
Her skin was the envy of ebony
She sang my senses away like a lark
And my soul she stole with her melody

Once I fell in love with a door so green
It never opened its heart to me
If it felt the same, I did not see
But it endured me still, and it let me be

Once I fell in love with the wind so strong
As did the trees, I danced to its song
My rights, it proved wrong
It taught me to live and not belong
